Mangoes are a joy to eat, but a pain in the butt to prepare. There are so many ways to prepare them too, I prefer to eat mine fresh or in a nice mango smoothie. Other people may prefer to eat dried mangoes or even make them into mango salsa.

Below are steps to properly cut up a mango:

  1. Slice gently and slowly along the “long” side of the mango until  you feel the pit inside.
  2. Delicately angle the knife, slicing along the side of the pit. Be sure to not cut into the pit but try to get the most mango off of that side.
  3. Do the same on the other side, and be sure not to throw away the pit just yet.Use the top of a sharp boning or paring knife, and  make slits lengthwise down the inside of the mango. Yo may be tempted to slice all the way through the bottom skin, but avoid doing so. The goal is too cut into the flesh of the mango. Turn your mango and do the same on the shorter side.
  4. You should end up with little squares. Repeat on the other side.
  5. Next turn the mango inside out, and this will separate the squares.
  6. Now, slice off each square at the bottom where it meets the outside skin of the mango.
  7. Peal the outer skin off of the remaining pit. Slice and dice the mango flesh left on the pit. Discard the remaining pit
  8. Enjoy your mango cubes.
